Old Trail Town Turns 50

Written by on April 20, 2017

One of Cody’s most popular attractions is celebrating a milestone.

Old Trail Town marks its 50th anniversary this year.   Made up of historic buildings, a large artifact collection, and the gravesites of several notable western figures, the site occupies what was once the original townsite of Cody, and draws visitors looking for a glimpse into the Old West.

A presentation tonight will tell the story of how Old Trail Town came to be – local historian Clay Gibbons will share details of the relocated buildings and the western characters that are now buried there.

Nancy Bailey with the Cody Culture Club, who is hosting the event, says that Gibbons has extensive ties with Old Trail Town, ever since he struck up a friendship with the site’s founder, Bob Edgar, over 40 years ago.

The event will take place from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and will include appetizers and a cash bar. Cost is $20 per person, payable at the door.
