Overfield Named 5th District Judge

Written by on August 30, 2018

An attorney with ties to the Big Horn Basin has been appointed as the District Court Judge for Big Horn, Hot Springs and Washakie Counties.
Governor Matt Mead has appointed Bobbi Dean Overfield to be District Court Judge for the Fifth Judicial District. Overfield fills the vacancy occurring with the retirement of Judge Robert E. Skar, effective October 2, 2018.
Born and raised in Riverton, Overfield is a partner at the firm Messenger & Overfield. She has been in private general law practice in Thermopolis for the past 13 years, which includes family litigation, trial work, administrative law and many other areas of the law. She received her law degree, as well as a bachelor’s degree in rangeland ecology and watershed management, from the University of Wyoming.
Overfield has a Wyoming ag background, an affinity for outdoor activities and a deep attachment to the Big Horn Basin. Her husband, Heath, is the son of Rob and Dossie Overfield of Cody.
Mead pointed to the fact that Overfield has spent her entire career serving the legal needs of people in rural areas of Wyoming, as well as her steady demeanor and strong ties to the area as factors for her selection.
