Park Country: Monument Hill Road Closed for Unsafe Conditions
Written by Andrew-Rossi on June 1, 2022
Park County Road 7 UH (Monument Hill Road) is closed until further notice to vehicular traffic as of Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
The Park County Public Works Department announced the closure of the Monument Hill Road under further notice. The recent rainfall created “wet and unsafe conditions” which is delaying the opening of the road and scheduled maintenance grading.
This closure is effective west of the gate, which lies 1.6 miles west of Highway 120. However, the portion of the road from Highway 120 to the gate will remain open.
Access to Road 7 UH (west of the gate to the cattle guard in Section 31, T. 54 N., R. 103 W.) is permissible by foot, horseback, snowmobile, and ATVs while the gate is closed.
The public is advised to stay on the County Right-of-Way and respect the private property along the route.
The public can access the Shoshone National Forest via the County Road and the Red Grade Road by foot, horseback, snowmobile, and ATVs. The public is advised to stay on the Red Grade Road and respect the private property along the route.
Road maintenance is scheduled as soon as weather and conditions allow. An announcement will be made when the gates are opened for this season.
Access to the State and BLM lands to the south of the cattle guard via the Limited Use Easement is restricted. Only those persons with valid permits for timber harvesting and elderly or disabled persons with a special access are allowed to use this road, subject to the terms and conditions of the Agreement between Trail Creek Partners and Park County.
