From September to October, most county unemployment rates in Wyoming followed their normal seasonal pattern and increased. Job losses are typically seen in leisure and hospitality, construction, retail trade and other sectors.
The largest unemployment rate increases occurred in Teton county, which went up from 1.9% to 3.1%, and Park county – up from 3.2% to 3.8%.
Wyoming’s unemployment rate increased slightly in October to 4.2 percent. The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the rate is up from September’s 4 percent but lower than the October 2016 level of 5 percent.
The national jobless rate for October was 4.1 percent.
In October, Niobrara County’s unemployment rate of 2.4 percent was the lowest in the state – the highest rates for the month were found in Natrona at 4.8 percent.
