It’s a grand old flag – and it’s touring around the country with a group of motorcycle riders raising money and awareness for disabled veterans and their families.
The ninth annual Patriot Tour is making a stop in Cody today. The Tour is a 110-day, 14,500-mile journey during which motorcycle riders carry our nation’s flag city-to-city through all 48 continental states. The Tour began May 19th in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and will eventually involve more than 150,000 riders, including many from all over Wyoming.
The tour leaves Jackson this morning and is scheduled to arrive at noon at Buffalo Bill Harley-Davidson in downtown Cody, where there will be a flag exchange ceremony. The tour will leave tomorrow for Billings.
Bill Sherer, founder and executive director of The Nation of Patriots, says that every dollar that is contributed to this effort is put directly into the hands of disabled vets and their families. In 2017, just shy of $250,000 was raised with funds distributed to 67 families of disabled veterans across 18 states.
