Phone Scam Misrepresents Law Enforcement

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office says there’s a telephone scam underway that misrepresents law enforcement.
According to the Office’s Facebook page, someone using the name of David Angeli is calling from a local cell phone number, claiming to be from an organization raising money for disabled law enforcement. This scammer has also used the name of local law enforcement personnel.
However, officials say this is NOT a legitimate organization anywhere in the state of Wyoming, nor do they represent any law enforcement agency in Wyoming. They stress that law enforcement does not solicit money from the public, and if residents receive a call from anyone representing any law enforcement agency asking for money, they are advised to not give out any personal information or bank information, not mail them any checks or money orders, and to not wire them money.
