Prescribed Burns Delayed by Weather

Thanks to the upcoming winter storm, projects planned by the Shoshone National Forest may have to be put on hold for a few weeks.
The Forest Service is planning to implement prescribed fire projects northwest of Cody this spring, as weather and fuel conditions allow, which will reduce hazardous fuels and enhance wildlife habitat. Kristie Salzmann with the District Office says there are projects planned near Bald Ridge and Dead Indian Pass, as well as adjacent to Dead Indian Campground.
However, Salzmann says due to the impending winter storm, those projects may be put off for a while. She says that many factors influence when a prescribed burn will happen.
Salzmann says that when conditions do dry out, signs will be posted in project areas and adjacent land owners will be notified prior to beginning the prescribed burns.
