The royal family has been making waves in the media following King Charles III’s recent coronation. Journalists have been eagerly covering everything from their fashion choices to the gossip that accompanies their status.

While the monarchy is not typically a topic of interest for us here in the States. There are moments when our worlds intersect, reminding us that these seemingly untouchable individuals might have similarities to us. Take Prince William, for example. He openly proclaimed his admiration for AC/DC, specifically their 1990 hit “Thunderstruck,” which often serves as the motivating soundtrack to his mornings.

“There’s nothing better than, on a Monday morning when you’re a bit bleary-eyed after the weekend and trying to get yourself back into the grind of the week, listening to AC/DC, Thunderstruck,” said the prince.

“I have to say the first time I put it on, and I’ve heard it a million times now, I was kind of, like, ‘Well, this is quite heavy for a Monday morning,'” he continued. “But now, when I listen to it, it’s the best tonic for a Monday morning. It absolutely wakes you up, puts your week in the best mood possible, and you feel like you can take on anything and anyone. I’d imagine you’re going to walk quite fast listening to it, maybe with a skip in your step, with the headbanging. It’s a difficult song not to dance to or to nod along to.”

Interestingly, Prince George, William’s nine-year-old son, has inherited his father’s taste for rock music. It was revealed before the coronation concert at Windsor Castle, where renowned artists like Katy Perry, Tiwa Savage, Calum Scott, and Lionel Richie performed, that Prince George is a big fan of both AC/DC and Led Zeppelin.

During a conversation with Rock Choir member Caroline Mulvihill, Prince William discussed the diverse music preferences in their household and mentioned George’s fondness for rock. Mulvihill expressed her intrigue upon learning this detail.

The future king undoubtedly possesses good musical taste.
