Principal Says CHS A Safe Environment

Written by on April 30, 2018

With the rise in school shootings nationwide, Cody High School principal Jeremiah Johnston says that he has confidence in the school’s ability to keep students safe.
Earlier this month, the Cody School Board passed a new policy that would allow for teachers and other staff to carry concealed weapons as a defense measure in the event of an active shooter. But Johnston says that the students shouldn’t see any visible differences in school security.

The School Board has discussed various other measures, such as bullet proof glass, but Johnston says there are no concrete plans to make any further adjustments to the school’s security.
He adds, though, that there are some issues that are unique to Cody High School, such as multiple entrances. But he says that the staff is addressing those concerns.

Policy CKA was passed at the Trustee’s meeting on April 17th, with plans to implement it next fall.
