Racing Legends Coming to Cody

Written by on May 2, 2017

Racing legends will be riding their motorcycles into Cody in two weeks.

The 23rd annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America will be spending the night in Cody on May 15th, in an effort to raise money for Victory Junction, a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

The ride itself will begin in Portland, Oregon on May 13th and will end in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 19th. Over 200 riders, including celebrities such as football greats Herschel Walker and George Rogers, and racing legends Donnie Allison and Kyle and Richard Petty, will be passing through Yellowstone, the Bighorn Mountains and the Black Hills, with a final destination of the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.

Shandi Quintana, Business Retention Specialist with Blair Hotels, says that the riders came through in 2005 and stayed at the Buffalo Bill Village, enjoying their experience so much that they requested to return on this trip.

Since the Ride’s inception in 1995, 7,950 riders have logged more than 11.6 million cumulative motorcycle miles, and the ride has brought in more than $17.5 million for Victory Junction and other charities that support chronically ill children.

Fans are encouraged to come support the cause and greet riders at the parking lot between the Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn at the corner of Sheridan Avenue and 16th Street on Monday the 15th.
