Resumes Still Being Accepted for Interim Secretary of State Position

Written by on February 20, 2018

Time is running out for those who are interested in filling the empty seat of Wyoming Secretary of State.
As of yesterday afternoon, four people had submitted their resume to the Wyoming Republican Party, according to Executive Director Kristi Wallen.
Ed Buchanan, an attorney from Torrington and former member and past Speaker of the Wyoming House of Representatives, has thrown his hat into the ring, as has former Legislator Pete Illoway from Cheyenne. Darin Smith, who campaigned unsuccessfully two years ago for Wyoming’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, has also filed, as has Richard George, a Cody area farmer and currently a Republican State Committeeman.
Wallen says that with the resignation of Secretary of State Ed Murray earlier this month, a countdown began to the day when the central committee selects three people as nominees. Those three names will then be sent to the Governor, for him to choose an interim official.

Wallen pointed out that the vacant position that will be filled is temporary, and that the citizens of the state of Wyoming will have the opportunity to elect a new Secretary of State in November.
Wallen encourages anyone with questions about the process to contact her at 307-760-3898.
