School Board Trustee Resigns

Written by on March 29, 2018

A trustee for Park County School District #6 in Cody has unexpectedly resigned her position.
Yesterday, the school district announced that Rebecca George had resigned from the board, effective Tuesday, March 27th. But despite the high-profile issues that have brought attention to the board in recent months, George says her resignation has nothing to do with the proposed policy that would allow for armed staff in schools.
Instead, George told KODI news that she and her husband Richard have decided to make a change in their lives, which means shifting her priorities.

George stressed that her resignation is not tied in any way to the recent controversy regarding the proposed Policy CKA – she says she completely supports the board’s efforts.

With the resignation of Rebecca George, the board of trustees is now tasked with appointing a replacement for her position. Chairman of the board, Kelly Simone, says that the board has thirty days from George’s resignation date to appoint someone new.

Simone says that Trustee George’s appointed replacement will serve until the upcoming election in November, at which time the election will determine who will finish the remainder of her term.
