Severe Weather Awareness Week

Written by on April 11, 2018

The 2018 Central and Western Wyoming Severe Weather Awareness week is happening through Friday, April 13th.
Today in particular, residents are cautioned that there will be a special NOAA Weather Radio routine test that will occur around 1 p.m. Tim Troutman with the National Weather Service in Riverton says if you have a weather radio receiver, you can utilize this test as a tornado drill.

Troutman says the NOAA Weather Radio test today will contain a special broadcast that will mention that this routine weekly test is the tornado drill for central and western Wyoming counties only in the National Weather Service Riverton county warning and forecast area.
The rest of the week, Troutman says there will be social media posts on Facebook and Twitter, as well as their website, to educate residents on safety tips related different severe weather-related topics.

Today’s topic is tornado safety; tomorrow will be flood safety, and Friday will focus on Fire Weather.
