Shoshone National Forest remaining Open amid new Challenges

Written by on June 5, 2020

It has been hard to do any grand re-openings following COVID-19 due to the precautions that have to be taken when reopening any business and that includes the Shoshone National Forest as well. In order to remain safe, the park will keep some facilities closed such as restrooms and picnic areas.

Just because the facilities aren’t being occupied doesn’t mean they don’t need to be kept up with. That is one of the new challenges amid his pandemic for the forest as they resort to new ways of upkeep such as: working with the regional office to develop a new contract for cleaning, working with the partners to host facilities, or permanently decreasing the overall number of recreation facilities.

Due to the reduction in allowed residents at parks it has made it so the Shoshone National Forest can’t keep open all the recreation sites either. However inconvenient this may be to visitors, this is so the park can ensure the safety of not only their facilities, but more importantly the people that come and get to see the beautiful area.
