SLIB Board Approves Big Horn Basin Projects

The State Loan and Investment Board yesterday approved six Business Ready Community grant requests presented during its quarterly meeting in Cheyenne.
Three of those projects were presented by agencies here in the Big Horn Basin.
Gunwerks in Cody will benefit from the $3 million dollar grant and $3 million-dollar loan that was requested to construct a facility for the expansion of Gunwerks firearms production. The building will be built on five acres purchased by and deeded to Forward Cody, then leased to Gunwerks.
The Powell Economic Partnership had a hand in the successful procurement of a $2.6 million dollar grant to construct a conference and community center adjacent to a privately financed, 70-80-room hotel. On their Facebook page, PEP Executive Director Christine Bekes extended her thanks to the State Loan and Investment Board for quote, “recognizing the tremendous local and state benefits to grow our visitor economy with your support of the Powell Conference Center and Hotel project,” endquote.
The SLIB Board also approved a Community Development Enhancement grant in the amount of $185,600 to purchase and install a lift for beginner skiers at Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area. The Antelope Butte Foundation is working to reopen the Antelope Butte Ski area into a year-round mountain recreation area.
