Small Fire Reported in Yellowstone
Written by Andrew-Rossi on July 19, 2019
The first wildfire in Yellowstone National Park this year has been reported.
Hikers on the Sevenmile Hole Trail reported the small fire, which was caused by lightning. It was just .1 acre in size as of yesterday, located 3 miles east of Canyon Village, near the Yellowstone River.
Park officials say that the fire is smoldering on a steep rocky slope and is not accessible by foot, so monitoring will take place by firefighters from the canyon rim.
Currently, the fire does not pose a threat to park visitors.
