Soroptimist to Host Their 15th Annual Run For Hope and MOM PROM

The Soroptimist International of Cody Club will be hosting their 15th Annual 5k/10k Chip-Timed Walk/Run on Saturday, October 7th, 2023 that will benefit the Lainey Cole Memorial Women’s Cancer Fund.

CODY, WYOMING Soroptimist International of Cody Club will host their 15th Annual 5k/10k chip-timed walk/run on Saturday, October 7th, 2023.

The walk/run benefits the Lainey Cole Memorial Women’s Cancer Fund, which provides assistance to women in Park County, Wyoming, who are battling all types of cancer.  Lainey Cole was a previous member whose life was taken by cancer several years ago.

Runners and walkers can register online at: runsignup.com or register in person at Sunlight Sports in downtown Cody.  The cost is $30.00 in advance, $20.00 for Students 19 years and younger, or $10.00 for the Kids race.

This year, each participant that pre-registered by 9/24/23 with their shirt size, will receive a 15th Annual ‘commemorative’ shirt for participating.  Day of race registration is also available at a cost of $35.00 for Adults.  Registration begins at 8:30am, with the Kids Race at 9am, and the main chip-timed race beginning at 9:30am. The event and the race begin at the Cody Recreation Center, 1402 Heart Mountain Street.

Drinks and post-race treats will be available for all participants.  This year we are encouraging walkers/runners to show up in teams, with any ‘team spirit’, or just advertise your team name or company while you walk or run, to benefit the Lainey Cole Memorial Women’s Cancer Annual Fundraiser!

The demand for cancer grants has increased over the past few years, so the Soroptimist Club is hoping to continue to fulfill all requests from women battling cancer and needing assistance.  In 2022 we helped 26 women, with grants of $19,500.00 and over the past 14 years, the Soroptimist Club in Cody have assisted 339 women with a total of $208,895.00.  

Soroptimist are only able to provide these funds through the wonderful and generous race sponsorships, donations and race entry fees.

New this year, the local Soroptimist Club and the Lainey Cole Memorial Women’s Cancer Fund have added anotherfundraiser, MOM PROM, scheduled for the evening on the same day as the race.  This fundraiser will assist cancer patients by funding ‘Wigs for Women’ in Park County, Wyoming.  The event will take place at the Holiday Inn – 1701 Sheridan Avenue, Saturday evening October 7th, from 7-10pm.  Entry is $25.00 per person, with tickets available exclusively at The Village Shoppe in downtown Cody.  Participants must be 21 years of age or older to attend.
