Super-Coalition Mobilizes Wellness Resources

A “Super-coalition” of community leaders who aim to keep Park County residents healthy began a series of meetings last week.
The Park County Health Coalition is comprised of representatives from medical, social and educational corners of the communities in the county, who hope to bring attention to resources that are available to residents in areas that have been identified as crucial to the health and well being of all those living in this region.
Lorraine Steppe, a clinician from The Pines Counseling center, was the mediator for last Thursday’s meeting at West Park Hospital. She says the goal of the meetings is to network, advocate, educate and mobilize resources for wellness in Park County.
At last week’s meeting, the attendees broke into small groups to come up with action plans in three areas – mental health and suicide prevention; healthy lifestyles; and affordable access to health care. The members of each small group left the meeting with individual assignments that will result in action towards helping the community utilize the resources that are already available in those key wellness areas.
