Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Online Sales Tax

Wyoming U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi is applauding a Supreme Court ruling that states can force online shoppers to pay sales tax.
The Republican has long advocated for legislation in the Senate that would give states the right to require out-of-state businesses or online retailers to collect sales and use taxes that are already owed under current law.
Enzi says the Supreme Court’s decision Thursday is a win for those brick-and-mortar stores that support local communities and the state and local governments that rely on sales and use taxes to provide essential services.
Since Wyoming doesn’t have an income tax, sales tax is one of the state’s main sources of revenue.
