‘The Long Goodbye’: The Eagles Announce Their Final Tour

Written by on July 6, 2023

The Eagles are souring together one final time. The band announced on Thursday that after more than 150 million albums sold and over 50 years of touring, their upcoming ‘The Long Goodbye’ tour will be their final one.

In an emotional statement, the band said, “Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages.”

The Eagles final tour will feature Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmidt, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, who is the son of founding band member, the late Glenn Frey. There will also be special guest, Steely Dan joining them.

The tour will kick off September 7, 2023 in New York City. Currently they have announced 13 initial dates in America.

The band is looking forward to seeing as many fans as possible. They also mentioned in their announcement the long, and at times challenging journey since the band formed in 1972.

With a special thank you to their management team, road crew, and backup musicians, the band said, “The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds.”

For ‘The Long Goodbye’ tour, Deacon, 30, will be rejoining The Eagles, despite announcing last year he was leaving the band to “forge his own path”. He joined the band initially in 2017 after his father, Glenn, passed away in 2016 at the age of 67.

The Eagles have had an incredible career spanning more than five decades, with six Number 1 albums. The band’s 1976 album “Hotel California”, along with the the title track, remain their most well-known work to this day.

In a 2016 article, drummer and vocalist Henley said to Rolling Stone, “Every band has a peak, and that was once ours.”

The Grammy award winning band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. They also received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016, but the band made it very clear that none of their success would have happened if it wasn’t for their loyal fans.

“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades,” said The Eagles in a statement.

“This is our swan song, but the music goes on, and on.”

Presale tickets, along with VIP packages for ‘The Long Goodbye’ tour are available July 12 for all of the currently announced shows. General tickets will be available to purchase on July 14th at 10am.
