In a recent interview with W Magazine, about his HBO series The Idol, singer The Weeknd revealed that he will no longer be using his long-time moniker after his next album.
“It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. This is something that I have to do. As the Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say,” he said.
The singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, began his career in 2009 by anonymously releasing music on YouTube. Since then, he has become a worldwide phenomenon releasing singles such as “Earned It,” “The Hills,” “Starboy” and most recently “Double Fantasy” with rapper Future.
