Third Grizzly Relocated to Cody Area

Another grizzly bear has been re-located to the Shoshone National Forest west of Cody.
The sub-adult female was captured August 1st after preying on cattle north of Pinedale. The bear was brought to the Mormon Creek drainage about five miles from the east entrance to Yellowstone.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department points out that only bears who are not considered a threat to human safety are relocated. The bears are moved in order to minimize conflicts between humans and grizzlies, and the site is chosen by taking into consideration the age, sex, and type of conflict the bear was involved in, as well as potential human activity in the vicinity of the relocation site.
This is the third grizzly that has been re-located by Game and Fish to the Cody area in the last two weeks.
