Trails Still Closed from June Wind Event

There are several trails in the Medicine Wheel Ranger District near Paint Rock Lakes that are still not passable.
The wind event that occurred at the end of June blew down a significant number of trees, and Forest Service crews have been unable to clear them this summer.
The High Park Trail, which is east of Lower Paintrock Trailhead, is impassable for about one mile, and the Kinky White Trail, which is south of Lower Paintrock Trailhead, is impassable for about one and a half miles, due to the extreme amount of trees blown down across the trail. The Lower Medicine Lodge Trail, which is west of Medicine Lodge Campground, is also impassable for about a mile.
Forest Service Officials say the trails will likely be impassable until late summer of 2019. The Forest is pursuing partnerships and supplemental funding to accomplish clearing the trails and making them passable.
