The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is asking residents to be cautious and keep a lookout for a grizzly bear that’s been frequenting residential areas within the Cody city limits.
Saturday morning, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department confirmed the presence of a male grizzly bear on the northwest side of Cody in a residential area near Sulfur Creek. According to the police department, the bear was spotted between Cody Labs and Dairy Queen. A trail camera set in the area confirmed that the bear had been in a yard eating apples.
Trapping operations are currently underway and it is critical that the public stay away from the area so capture operations are not hindered. The Police Department is asking everyone to take safety precautions if they are in areas near Sulphur Creek, including the Paul Stock Trails near the Shoshone River.
If you observe a bear or bear activity in a residential area, please contact local Game and Fish personnel immediately.
