Trey Schroeders Home Run, 9 K’s Power Cody Past the World
Written by Cole Havens on June 20, 2022
Trey Shcroeder hit his first home run of the season and struck out 9 as the Cody Cubs powered their way past the World, 15-2, in the teams first of many meetings this week.
Schroeder stepped to the plate in the 3rd inning with his team up 4-2 and launched his 1st Home Run of the season, a no doubter over the right field fence as part of an 8-run 3rd inning.
Schroeder would take to the hill and delivered his best start of the season, going 5 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 runs (1 earned) and struck out 9 to pick up his 4th win of the season.
Monday night the Cubs played host to the World Baseball Showcases and Cody got the fireworks going early.
Jace Jarret, 3-3 in the game, would break open the scoring in the 1st on a 2-RBI single that put Cody ahead 4-0.
Team World answered in the 2nd as they would bring across 2-runs but it was all Cody from there.
The 8-run 3rd highlighted
by Trey Schroeder’s homer gave Cody the big lead and the Cubs would plate 3 more in the 4th for insurance as the Cubs snapped a 4-game losing streak.
Every Cub that came to bat in the contest would score a run. Schroeder and Jarrett each had multiple hit games.
With the win the Cubs are now 16-11 on the season.
Up Next: It’s Cody vs. the World, Tuesday, for a double header with all the action getting underway at 5:30pm.
A big shutout and thank you to Brayden McCoy (KZMQ Country Super Station Morning Show Host) and to Ethan Johnston (former Cody Player, now coach) for joining me.
