Two People Bitten By Dogs Last Week | Big Horn Basin Media

Two Dog Bites Reported in One Day

Written by on May 30, 2017

Incidents of dog bites within the Cody City limits are rare – but last week two people reported being bitten by dogs in the same day.
On Wednesday, May 24, a City employee went to the emergency room after being bitten by a dog in the backyard of a home where he was doing some work. And a boy was bitten by a dog in an alley, although the owner was present at the time.
Police Lieutenant Jason Stafford says in the last 12 months, only six animal bites were reported to law enforcement, including the two from Wednesday. He did have some tips for safety around dogs.

Stafford says if you are bitten you should try to identify who the dog belongs to, call the police department, and seek medical attention.
Stafford adds that the department does issue citations to all the owners of animals who have bitten someone.
