UPDATE: Officer involved in shooting in Thermopolis is in stable condition after being flown to a hospital.

According to the the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office and Worland Police Department’s Facebook page, that Police Sergeant Mike Mascorro is in stable condition after being shot. According to Sheriff Brookwell, “We are glad that Sgt. Moscorro is in stable condition. Please pray for the town of Thermopolis and the family of Sgt Mascorro that he makes a speedy and full recovery.”

Police Sergeant Mike Moscorro was shot yesterday around 12:30PM at a trailer park on Canyon Hills Road in Thermopolis.  After being taken to Hot Springs Health, he was then air-lifted to Banner-Wyoming Medical Center in Casper where he is now in stable condition.

The shooting is being investigated by the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation.

A “critical incident” occurred on Canyon Hills Road in Thermopolis.

The Town of Thermopolis confirms there was an “officer-involved shooting” at approximately 12:37 p.m. Local sources say the incident occurred in a trailer park on Canyon Hills Road.

The Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office also confirms a “critical incident” occurred and has asked the public to avoid the area.

A Thermopolis police officer was shot and has been life-flighted to a regional hospital.

Allegedly, there were two suspects – a man and a woman – who were involved in the incident. Both suspects are down and may be deceased.

At this point, no additional information on the incident or the status of the officer & suspects is available. The Town of Thermopolis says there is no threat to the community.
