Vandals Destroy G&F Sign – Again

Vandals have again destroyed a Game and Fish sign near the Willwood Public Access Area south of Powell.
Cody Region Habitat and Access Supervisor Brad Sorensen said the sign, which cost about $600 to replace, had recently been installed by the Cody Region Habitat and Access crew to assist sportsmen by providing area specific information and identifying boundaries.
Sorensen said the sign had been installed only four months before, replacing another sign that had also been shot. This new sign was shot at close range six times with a shotgun.
Sorensen said that amenities such as informational signs and vault restrooms are often provided at access areas for the convenience and benefit of those using the areas, and said he found it hard to understand why someone would vandalize or shoot at a restroom or a sign that is provided at one of these areas.
He pointed out that it is costly and time consuming to replace or repair these items and ultimately, it is sportsmen who are footing the bill for the vandalism.
