Volunteers and More Needed for Blood Drive

Written by on March 15, 2019

Volunteers and more are needed in order to continue local blood drives.

Joshua Randall with Vitalant, formerly United Blood Service of Billings, says that they are asking for assistance from anyone in the Cody area who is willing to make phone calls to ask donors to sign up for the Cody blood drives. He says that as a company, they will no longer be able to take on that task beginning in May.

Randall adds that they are also looking for new places to host a blood drive, in order to give more people an opportunity to donate, along with volunteers to help.  He says their goal is to be in Cody once a month.

The blood drive is coming to town next week, at the Cody VFW on Monday, March 18th from 10:30 to 5, and on Tuesday, March 19th, from 9 to 3:30.

Randall points out that they are behind in donations because of poor weather and cancellations due to illness.

If anyone is interested in donating blood, they can schedule an appointment online or walk in to the drive at the Cody VFW next week. Anyone available to be a volunteer, or who knows of a location to hold additional drives, is asked to call Randall on his Cell Phone at 406-647-3156, or email at jrandall@vitalant.org.
