Wadsworth Walks Across Wyoming

Written by on September 5, 2017

A 400 mile walk begins with a single step – and a warm sendoff from the community.
On Friday morning, Dr. Terresa Humphries-Wadsworth of Cody began a journey that will take her from Cody to Cheyenne– a 15 day Walk Across Wyoming, with the purpose of bringing awareness to suicide prevention efforts.
For Wadsworth, this is a personal journey. Her life has been touched by suicide, and she said in her sendoff speech Friday morning that she is walking for those who fight the battle.

Wadsworth is not walking alone across the state – on Friday she was joined by Allison and Dustin Burns, whose lives were changed by the suicide of Dustin’s father two years ago. Others joined her over the weekend for overnight camping, and her traveling partner, Kelly Eckerdt of Powell, is driving a side by side vehicle along the entire route.
Yesterday, Eckerdt and Wadsworth reported that several people drove quite a distance to join them on the day’s walk.

As of this morning, Wadsworth had made it through the Wind River Canyon and was outside of Shoshoni. The Big Horn Radio Network will be following Wadsworth’s progress as she continues her journey to raise awareness for suicide prevention.
