Warrior Wrestling 3rd at State, Warrior Basketball Swept over the Weekend

THE WORLAND WARRIOR WRESTLING TEAM WAS OVER IN CASPER OVER THE WEEKEND TAKING PART IN THE STATE WRESTLING TOURNAMENT. AS A TEAM THE WARRIORS WOULD FINISH IN 3RD PLACE GARNERING 168.5 POINTS. STAR VALLEY WON THE STATE TOURNAMENT FOLLOWED BY DOUGLAS IN SECOND. POWELL FINISHED FOURTH, LYMAN WAS FIFTH AND CODY SIXTH.
THE WARRIORS WERE LED BY LUKE GONCALVES WHO PLACED 1ST AT 160 POUNDS, DEFEATING SETH DEWITT OF WHEATLAND BY FALL.
SEVEN OTHER WARRIORS WOULD PLACE AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT AND THEY ARE:
ANTHONY MARTINEZ WOULD FINISH 2ND AT 106 POUNDS.
DOMANIC HARTLEY FINISHED 3RD AT 113 POUNDS.
KYLE ANDERSON FINISHED 6TH AT 120 POUNDS.
DANIEL WEYRICH FINISHED 4TH AT 120 POUNDS.
ROSS GONCALVES FINISHED 5TH AT 126 POUNDS.
LANE MCBEE WAS 3RD AT 170 POUNDS.
AND BRODY HERNANDEZ WAS 4TH AT 220 POUNDS.
OVER ON THE HARDWOOD…
THE WORLAND BASKETBALL TEAMS CLOSED OUT THEIR REGULAR SEASON AT HOME FRIDAY NIGHT.
IN THE FIRST GAME OF THE EVENING THE WORLAND LADY WARRIORS HIT THE HARDWOOD LOOKING TO COMPLETE AN UNDEFEATED CONFERENCE SEASON BUT THAT WAS NOT MEANT TO BE AS THE LANDER GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM CAME AWAY WITH THE 50-38 VICTORY. WITH THE LOSS WORLAND CLOSES THE REGULAR SEASON WITH A 5-1 CONFERENCE RECORD AND WILL BE THE NUMBER 1 SEED OUT OF THE NORTHWEST AT THE 3A WEST REGIONAL TOURNAMENT.
AS FOR THE WORLAND BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM. THEY WERE PERFECT ON THE SEASON HEADING INTO FRIDAY NIGHT, WINNING ALL 21 GAMES THIS YEAR BUT ON FRIDAY NIGHT THE WARRIORS COULDN’T STAY PERFECT DROPPING THEIR CONTEST TO LANDER 73-64. WITH THE LOSS THAT DROPS WORLAND OUT OF THE TOP SEED FOR THE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT. THE WARRIORS HEAD INTO THE WEST REGIONAL AS THE NUMBER 2 SEED OUT OF THE NORTHWEST.
BOTH WORLAND BASKETBALL TEAMS WILL BE IN LYMAN FOR THE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT. THE GIRLS TIP-OFF AGAINST BIG PINEY THURSDAY AT 4:30PM WITH THE BOYS TEAM PLAYING LYMAN AT 8:30 IN THE EVENING
