THE WORLAND WARRIORS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM ARE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS. THE WARRIORS BLAZED THROUGH THE 3A WEST REGIONAL TOURNAMENT OVER THE WEEKEND AND EARNED AN 81-73 REDEMPTION WIN AGAIN LANDER IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SATURDAY NIGHT.

THE WARRIORS OPENED UP TOURANMENT PLAY WITH A MATCH-UP VS. THE HOST TEAM LYMAN AND DOWNED THEM 90-58. IN THEIR SEMI-FINAL MATCH-UP THEY WENT UP AGAINST LOVELL AND DOWNED THE BULLDOGS 66-44. AND WHILE THE WARRIORS LED FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE GAME AGAINST LANDER THE WIN DIDN’T COME EASY. THE WARRIORS WENT INTO THE HALF WITH A DOUBLE DIGIT LEAD AFTER DROPPING IN 41 POINTS BUT THE TIGERS FOUGHT BACK. AT ONE POINT THE TIGERS CLOSED THE GAP TO JUST 5 IN THE SECOND HAF BUT THAT’S THE CLOSEST THEY WOULD GET AS THE WARRIORS HUNG ON FOR THE 8 POINT VICTORY. WITH THE WIN WORLAND IS THE REGIONAL CHAMPS AND NOW GET SET FOR THE STATE TOURNAMENT. WORLAND WILL BE MATCH-UP WITH 3A EAST FOE BUFFALO IN THE FIRST ROUND OF STATE AND THEY WILL PLAY THAT GAME THURSDAY AT 1:30PM.

AS FOR THE WORLAND LADY WARRIORS BASKETBALL TEAM, AFTER AN OPENING ROUND 64-53 WIN VS. BIG PINEY IT WAS NOT MEANT TO BE FOR THE LADY WARRIORS WHO DROPPED THEIR FINAL TWO CONTESTS TO LYMAN AND LANDER ENDING THEIR SEASON.
