Wind River Canyon Traffic Delays
Written by Andrew-Rossi on March 15, 2017
If you’re planning to travel through Wind River Canyon in the near future, add a little extra time to your schedule.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation has contracted with a construction company out of Cowley to scale rocks, clean culverts, reshape ditches and do other work in the Canyon. Because of this, traffic delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected.
WYDOT officials say the work is in response to the Memorial Day weekend flooding and mud slides from 2015.
The work within Wind River Canyon is happening from about six miles south of Thermopolis, through to the area near the tunnels. All work is dependent upon favorable weather and favorable road conditions.
The contract completion date for the project is May 31st.
