Winsor Sentenced to Prison for Gunfighter Incident

Written by on September 28, 2017

The Cody man accused of accidentally shooting three tourists during a Gunfighter performance last July has changed his plea to guilty.
Last week, 52 year old Steve Winsor was convicted of five counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment for the shooting, which sent three tourists to the hospital. He admitted to loading his gun with live ammunition prior to the incident, and was sentenced to almost a year in prison, with credit for 168 days time served. After his release, he will be subject to four years of unsupervised probation.
However, Winsor’s legal troubles aren’t over. Winsor was arrested in April after a traffic stop revealed possession of methamphetamines, as well as possession of his black powder pistol, which violated terms of his bond release at the time. He has pleaded not guilty to the possession charge, which in his case would be a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
