Worland Indoor Track In Gillette For State

The Worland High School Indoor Track Team was in Gillette this past weekend for the 2023 Wyoming Indoor Track State Meet.

Several athletes made the podium.

Freshman Kalistynn Crippen finished 7th in the 55 Meter Dash with a 7.67.

Another Freshman sprinter Cherise Douzenis finished 6th in the 200 Meter Dash with a 27.35, Douzenis also finished 8th in the 400 Meter Dash with a 1:02.83.

Sophomore Zena Tapia podiumed with a 7th-place finish in the 800 Meter Run with a 2:29.11, Tapia also stood on the podium for the 1600 Meter at 4th with a 5:36.76, and for the 3200 Meter, she was 3rd at 11:58.90.

The girl’s relay team of Junior Maddy Lloyd, Senior Isaira Matamoros, Junior Nyssa Leyva, and Junior Ericka Manahan finished 2nd in the 4X200 Meter Relay.

The Lady Warriors also would finish 5th in the 4X800 Meter Relay with Leyva, Isaira, Senior Sarai Matamoros, and Tapia.

The Freshman Duo of Douzenis and Crippen would both podium in the High Jump, Douzenis 4th with a 4’10” and Crippen 7th at 4’8″.

Sophomore Trajn Swalstad podiumed with a 7th-place finish in the 3200 Meter Run.

The Boy’s relay team of Swalstad, Sophomore Ira Croft, Sophomore Kiyoshi Smith, and Senior Harley Redding finished 7th in the 4X800 Meter Relay.

This was the first season in Indoor Track the competition was split into 2 Divisions, 4A and 3A.
