Written by on February 10, 2021

Delayne Renner Newton resigned from her Ward 1 seat in November of 2020 and the vacancy was filled by Barbie Brookwell in Jaunaray.

In a recent interview with KWOR 1340AM, Councilmember Brookwell highlighted how much she loves Worland and her excitement to get started.

“I have a lot invested in Worland. We have a great community, and we have a lot of people that are on right now that I would love to work with. I like the group Adam Martinez, Scott Schaeffer, Kody DeMunbren and our mayor. I just think there is so much I want to do for this community.”

She also highlighted improving the downtown area as one of her priorities in the city council.

“I’d like to work on the downtown area” she said. “Trying to get businesses in here is so important to me.”

When asked about what kind of businesses she would like to bring to Worland, Councilmember Brookwell looked to cities like Powell and Cody.

“I’d like to be a lot like Powell and Cody, they have such good unique stores and there are some people downtown now making it well but anything we can spend our money on.”

Mayor Jim Gill expressed high praises for newly appointed councilmember Brookwell during the interview.

“We’re excited to have Barbie joining us. She’s enthusiastic and she’s just been fun to work with already.”

Councilmember Brookwell will represent Ward 1 for the remaining years of the term and may run for election in 2022.
