Wyoming High on “Happy” List

Written by on March 1, 2019

When it comes to being happy in America, Wyoming is a pretty good place to live.

The new Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index was released on Wednesday, and Wyoming takes second place only to Hawaii. States are graded on how their residents feel about their physical health, careers, relationships, finances and communities.

The top five happiest states, according to the poll, are Hawaii, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Utah. And while Hawaii may seem like a no-brainer, surprisingly, it’s not about the warm weather and gorgeous scenery. Dan Witters, research director of the Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index, says there’s not much of a relationship between those factors and overall well-being. He says it comes down more to who lives there and what kind of culture you have.
