Yellowstone Closures This Week

Written by on June 6, 2017

If you’re headed to Yellowstone this week, there are some closures you should be aware of.
Although the road from Norris to Golden Gate was scheduled to be closed nightly beginning June 4, that closure has been postponed, and is now tentatively set to begin next Sunday, June 11, at 10 p.m. This segment of road will be closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Sept. 10th. Closure barricades are located at Roaring Mountain and the Willow Park/Moose Exhibit restroom pullout – but the Norris and Indian Creek campgrounds will be open, and the road will remain open overnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
And beginning tomorrow, park staff will temporarily close public access to the North Rim Drive of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to conduct helicopter operations. The closure will be in effect between 5:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., dependent on weather. Park staff is going to be utilizing a helicopter to move 25 loads of 1000 lbs each of buildable rock for the Canyon Rim renovation and restoration efforts that began in 2016. The operation will be conducted from the Brink of the Lower Falls parking lot.
