THE YELLOWSTONE QUAKE WERE BACK IN ACTION OVER THE WEEKEND WITH ONE GAME ON THE ROAD AND ONE AT HOME. ON THE ROAD FRIDAY, YELLOWSTONE FELL TO SHERIDAN 8-2 WHILE SATURDAY’S GAME ENDED IN HEARTBREAK FASHION LOSING 2-1 TO BOZEMAN. THE QUAKE NOW DROP TO 1-6 ON THE SEASON BUT IT IS STILL EARLY, THEIR IS STILL 41 MORE GAMES TO BE PLAYED. AS EXPECTED TEAM MORALE IS STILL HIGH HEAD COACH PHIL OBERLIN SAYS THE TEAM ENERGY AND EFFORT WILL GET THEM BACK ON TRACK.
“I THINK WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON WHAT WE’RE DOING. I THINK OVER THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS WE LOST FOCUS ON WHAT WE WANTED TO DO AND WERE A LITTLE MORE WORRIED WHAT THE OTHER TEAM WAS GOING TO DO. SO I THINK AS LONG AS WE CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON US, AND WHAT WE CAN CONTROL AND WHAT WE WANT TO ACCOMPLISH AS A GROUP. THAT’S GOING TO START TO BUILD MORE CONFIDENCE AND QUICKER STARTS, MORE SCORING OPPORTUNITIES, MORE PUCK POSSESSION. ALL THOSE TYPES OF THINGS WE WANT TO ACCOMPLISH.”
THE YELLOWSTONE QUAKE MAKE THEIR RETURN TO THE FRIENDLY CONFINES OF RILEY ARENA THIS WEEKEND HOSTING MISSOULA FOR A PAIR OF GAMES AND COACH OBERLIN TALKS ABOUT SOMETHING SPECIAL THAT WILL BE GOING ON.
“IT’S A BIG WEEKEND TOO. FOR THE GUYS IT’S OUR PINK IN THE RINK WEEKEND. SO WE’RE BRINGING CANCER AWARENESS. DOING SOME FUNDRAISING THIS WEEKEND, 20 PERCENT OF THE GATES GOING BACK TO THE BIG HORN BASIN CENTER HERE IN CODY. SHOULD BE A GOOD FAN BASE BASE AND AGAIN IT’S A GOOD CAUSE TO PLAY FOR.”
MISSOULA COMES INTO THIS FACE-OFF WITH A 2-3 RECORD AND COACH OBERLIN SAYS HE WANTS TO SEE THE TEAM FINISH.
“AT SOME POINT WE’VE GOT TO BREAK OUT. THIS PAST WEEKEND WE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY, FIVE ON THREE. WE GOT SOME GREAT SCORING OPPORTUNITIES, WE JUST DIDN’T FINISH. YEA I THINK IT’S ON OUR FORWARDS THIS WEEK. WE’VE JUST GOT TO START FINISHING OUR OPPORTUNITIES UP FRONT. SO AGAIN THAT GOES TO YOU KNOW FROM OUR TOP TO BOTTOM ON OUR OFFENSE SIDE OF THINGS AND OUR FORWARDS. AS A GROUP WE’VE GOT TO MAKE SURE WE’RE CLOSING ON OPPORTUNITIES AND FINISHING THOSE OPPORTUNITIES ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE.”
THE YELLOWSTONE QUAKE HOST MISSOULA AT RILEY ARENA FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH PUCK DROPPING AT 7:30PM BOTH NIGHTS.
