YNP Changes Details of Road Construction Project

Written by on September 18, 2017

Yellowstone National Park officials Friday retracted a crucial detail that was a cause for concern for local businesses regarding next year’s planned construction project between Fishing Bridge and Pelican Bay.
The press release sent out by the Park on Wednesday noted that during the spring and summer construction process, quote, “The road may also temporarily close at night or for up to several days at a time,” endquote. Cody Chamber Director Tina Hoebelheinrich says that closing the road completely for several days at a time in the busy summer months would be very problematic for tourism traffic, both for the Cody community and for Yellowstone.

However, in a short message sent out by Yellowstone’s Public Affairs Office on Friday afternoon, a correction to the press release noted that the road will NOT temporarily close at night or for up to several days at a time.
Hoebelheinrich says that continued communication is vital, adding that in their dealings with the Park on this matter, local leaders have gotten a sense that the community’s concerns are being heard and taken into consideration.
