YNP Fire Danger High
Written by Andrew-Rossi on July 24, 2018
Yellowstone National Park officials have raised the fire danger in the Park.
The parkwide fire danger level for Yellowstone is now listed as HIGH, although currently, there are no fire restrictions in the park.
Campfires are only permitted in fire rings at campgrounds and some backcountry campsites. Campfires must be extinguished and cold to touch after use.
The change comes just as a new fire west of the Park was reported yesterday evening. As of this morning, the lightning-caused Bacon Rind fire is around 150 acres. The blaze is in the Custer Gallatin National Forest, and smoke is visible from Highway 191 near the boundary of Yellowstone.
