13-Year-Old Cody Middle School Student Dies in ATV Crash

Tragedy strikes at the beginning of Cody’s school year.
A Cody Middle School student is dead after an ATV crash over the weekend.
The 13-year-old boy was riding a three-wheeler and crashed into the canal near Lane 19 1/2 shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, according to a statement Wednesday from the Park County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies, EMTs, firefighters and rescue crews were all dispatched to the scene, where they pulled the boy from the canal. He was then taken to Cody Regional Health, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not publicly released the boy’s name, as he was a minor. The sheriff’s statement did not include a cause of death.
