MATT SANDOVAL AND NIC TALICH COMBINED FOR 277 YARDS ON THE GROUND, SCORED 4 TOUCHDOWNS AND THE THE BRONCS DEFENSE FORCED 4 TURNOVERS AS CODY RAN PAST WORLAND 55-26 FRIDAY NIGHT.
CODY FINISHED THE GAME WITH OVER 500 YARDS OF TOTAL OFFENSE, FIVE DIFFERENT PLAYERS FOUND THE END ZONE, LED BY TALICH WITH THREE RUSH TOUCHDOWNS, WHILE TRISTAN BLATT HAD TWO TOUCHDOWN RECEPTIONS.
AFTER BOTH TEAMS THREW INTERCEPTIONS ON THEIR OPENING DRIVE THE BRONCS SETTLE IN AND IN TURN, REEL OFF 20 STRAIGHT POINTS TO BEGIN POSTSEASON PLAY WITH A BANG. HUNTER HAYS FOUND TRISTAN BLATT ON A 27 YARD SCREEN PLAY TO OPEN UP THE SCORING WHILE NIC TALICH AND MATT SANDOVAL EACH HAD A RUSHING TOUCHDOWN IN THE QUARTER. CODY LED AFTER THE FIRST FRAME 20-0.
IN THE SECOND QUARTER THE WORLAND WOULD FIND THE END ZONE 2 MINUTES IN WHEN LUKE MORTIMER TOOK A REVERSE HAND-OFF TO THE HOUSE FROM 64 YARDS OUT TO GIVE THE WARRIORS LIFE. WORLAND WOULD OUTSCORE CODY IN THE SECOND QUARTER 20-14 BUT THE BRONCS WENT INTO HALFTIME WITH THE LEAD AND NEVER LOOKED BACK.
IN THE SECOND HALF CODY SHUTOUT WORLAND OUTSCORING THEM BY 21 AND WENT ON FOR THE VICTORY.
WITH 6:40 LEFT IN THE GAME SENIOR CHARLIE BEAUDRIE FOUND THE ENDZONE FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON INCREASING CODY’S LEAD TO 55. THE 55 POINTS SCORED BY THE BRONCS WAS THE MOST THEY’VE SCORED IN A GAME ALL SEASON.
“JUST A GREAT TEAM WIN. REALLY IMPRESSED. I THOUGHT OUR O-LINE AND D-LINE DID A TERRIFIC JOB AS THEY HAVE ALL YEAR. YEA, IT STARTED WITH THE RUSHING GAME AND FROM THERE, ONCE THAT GOES YOU KNOW EVERYTHING ELSE TENDS TO FALL IN LINE.”
UP NEXT CODY WILL HOST THE POWELL PANTHERS FOR A REMATCH OF THE BIG HORN BRAWL FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH AT SPIKE VANNOY STADIUM. KICK-OFF IS SCHEDULED FOR 6PM AND YOU CAN HEAR THE GAME ON KODI AM 1400 AND 96.7FM.
