Albertson’s Obtains Liquor License

Written by on July 19, 2018

Albertson’s Supermarket in Cody is expanding its business plan.
In addition to having an in-store pharmacy, Wells Fargo branch and Starbucks Coffee Shop, the grocery store will now be able to sell alcohol, after the Cody City Council on Tuesday approved the transfer of the retail liquor license from Eastgate Liquor.
City Administrator Barry Cook said that the public hearing on Tuesday evening did not bring out any objections to the transfer, and the City Council unanimously approved the motion. According to City documents, the transfer will be in effect as of August 1st.
A representative of the Cody Albertson’s store was unable to comment on the transfer, but the application submitted to the City indicated that the company intends to operate the liquor store at its current location, which is on the northern end of the shopping center. However, the business plan notes that Albertson’s expects to operate the liquor store in conjunction with the supermarket, as if the liquor store were a department within the grocery store rather than a separate business, and will have the same operating hours.
