Balow Has Mixed Reaction to Policy CKA

Wyoming’s Superintendent of Public Instruction has mixed feelings about the policy proposed by the Cody School Board that would allow for armed staff on school premises.
Jillian Balow, who was in Park County this month with three of the other top elected officials from the state, told KODI News that it took her some time to support the legislation that prompted Cody’s school board to begin crafting Policy CKA. But she believes that in certain circumstances, this type of security measure would be warranted.
Balow pointed out that Cody is the only school district in the state that is currently working on a policy that would allow for arming staff members in the event of an active shooter situation.
The trustees for Park County School District 6 will be considering the first reading of the policy at their next regular board meeting on February 20th.
