Bentonite Mine Proposes Expansion

Written by on July 17, 2018

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public input on a proposed bentonite mining expansion in Bighorn County.
Wyo-Ben, Incorporated plans to expand its current mining operations by 3.9 acres on BLM-managed federal land 7 miles northwest of Greybull. The proposed expansion would provide an estimated 18,300 tons of bentonite from public lands over the life of the project, and would continue to employ approximately 10 mine employees, 20 mill employees and additional subcontractors.
The environmental assessment is available for public review and comment online, and the plan of operations modification submitted by Wyo-Ben is available for review at the BLM Cody Field Office at 1002 Blackburn Street.
The BLM Cody Field Office will be accepting public comments on the environmental assessment through August 10th.
