Both Cody Soccer Teams & Powell Open State with Wins

The Class 3A Boys and Girls State Soccer Tournament got underway on Thursday with first round action.
Starting off with a look at the Cody Broncs. The Broncs entered State as the No. 3 seed out of the West and were matched-up with Douglas, the No. 2 Seed out of the East, in the first round.
The contest was deadlocked at the half at, 0-0.
The Broncs would take the lead in the second half and hold on for the 1-0 upset to advance to the second round.
Up Next: It’ll be the Cody Broncs vs. the Worland Warriors in the semi-final round, Friday at 4pm. Winner advances to the State Championship, the loser will play for 3rd place.

As for the Fillies. They to would get State tournament play underway on Thursday as they were matched-up with the No. 4 team out of the East, Newcastle.
It was an offensive onslaught for the Fillies as they would outscored Newcastle by a final of 11-0 to advance to the second round.
Up Next: The Fillies will square off with Mountain View in the semi-final round which will be played Friday afternoon at 4pm as well. Winner advances to the championship, the loser plays in the 3rd place game.

The Powell Panthers would get the day started on the boys side with a 3-1 win over Riverton. Powell will now face Torrington in the second round. That game will begin at 2pm.
