Britney Spears is opening up after filing a police report about an incident that occurred with a member of NBA basketball player Victor Wembanyama’s security team.
According to Spears, she was allegedly slapped by one of Wembanyama’s security guards Wednesday night at a Las Vegas restaurant.
Rolling Stone has confirmed that the incident did occur and a police report was filed with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Thursday morning. The report indicated that the “responded to a property in the 3700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard regarding a battery investigation.”
According to the report, no arrest or citations were issuesd.
Spears posted a statement to Twitter on Thursday to address the incident stating that the San Antonio Spurs player’s security guard “back-handed” her to the face without looking back, infant of a crowd. She also noted that she was hit so hard she was “nearly knock[ed]” to the ground and it caused her glasses to fall off her face.
“Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was not prepared for what happened to me last night. I recognized an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again. I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success,” she wrote. “I am aware of the player’s statement where he mentions ‘I grabbed him from behind’ but I simply tapped him on the shoulder.”

Earlier on Thursday, Wembanyama commented on the incident. According to Wembanyama, he was advised by his security team to not stop and talk to people because he would attract a crowd. When people would approach him, he was to keep walking.
Wembanyama told reporters that somebody had “grabbed me from behind… not on my shoulders. She grabbed me from behind.” TMZ first reported that Spears had touched his shoulder, but according to Wembanyama, that was not true.
TMZ also reported that Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari, along with two friends were dining at the Aria Hotel when Spears approached Wembanyama to ask for a photo.
“I just know that the security pushed me away. I don’t know with how much force, though,” he said. “But security pushed her away. I didn’t stop to look. I kept walking and enjoyed a nice dinner. That was a fun night.”

The NBA star did not know it was Spears until hours after the incident. Upon returning to his hotel, he was informed by security that it was Spears who was involved in the incident.
“At first, I was like, ‘No, you’re joking,’” he said. “But it turns out it was Britney Spears. I didn’t know because I never saw her face. I just kept on walking straight, and that’s it.”
Asghari also commented on the incident on his Instagram story, saying he is, “opposed to violence in any form, especially without justification in the defense of yourself or someone else who is unable to defend themselves.
“Self-defense can be unavoidable, but the defense of any woman, especially my wife, is not debatable,” he wrote. “I consider my reaction subdued considering what occurred, and I hope the man in question learns a lesson and changes his disregard for women. Thank you for the support.”
Spears reportedly met with Las Vegas police on Thursday.
The ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ singer has been making headlines lately, just recently shutting down rumors that she has been using drugs. “The fact that people are claiming things that are not true is so sad,” Spears said. She also called the rumors, “not true”.
