Bronc Golf, 4th at Worland Invite

Written by on August 25, 2021

Over the weekend, the Cody golf teams were back in action, last weekend, taking part in the Worland invite.

Following their second place finish a week earlier the Bronc golfers put up a respectable 4th place finish in Worland, shooting a team total of 716 over the two days.

Hunter Hall would lead the way for the Broncs with a two day total of 149, good for 4th place overall.

On the girls side, Adelie Hall would finish 10th overall, for the Fillies with a two day total of 222, career best.

Recap from Head Coach Jake Kraft below:

Weather

Both Thursday and Friday were much cooler than the previous week’s tournament. Both days had forecasted possible cold and rainy weather (and they were right). Fortunately, the rainy weather missed the area during most of the competition and the field of golfers (76) were able to play virtually all 36 holes without much precipitation. Most of the rain came in the evening between our rounds in Worland.

Boys

Hunter Hall followed up a top-three performance from last week (Park Co. Shootout) with a fourth place showing this week (Worland Invite) to lead our boys team. He shot 74 the first day and 75 (the scoreboard was wrong…math error posted a 72). Hunter is extremely close to putting together a round under par in one of our hs events. It really is just a matter of time before he achieves that personal goal. Hunter has certainly put in the time this summer and it’s now paying dividends in tournament golf.

Logan Hall (Hunter’s freshman brother) had a good round on Thursday (88) but struggled to score on the second day (97) in Worland. Logan has been a pleasant surprise to our squad early this fall season. He has a great mindset for tournament golf and has emerged as a staple on our varsity team these past two weeks. Logan is very capable of scoring in the 80s for us (he shot a career best 82 last week).

Ethan Salzman and Bridger Hult both had considerably better days on Friday for us. Ethan shot rounds of (102, 90) while Bridger posted scores of (99, 91) to help bring our team score down into the 350s one day two. We moved up as a team to 4th moving ahead of Lovell to finish the tournament as a team. If we want to compete in the upper tier of our conference we need our varsity guys closer to 90 or the high 80s to pair with Hunter’s scores to contend. Hopefully both Ethan and Bridger can build on Friday’s rounds moving forward.

Girls

Adelie Hall had a great two-day tournament in Worland (116, 106) which were both career bests for her and good enough for 10th place (2nd straight top ten). Adelie continues to gain more confidence and learn how to grind out more difficult holes and bring her score closer to breaking the 100 mark. Adelie is only a sophomore but she is setting a great example for our other female golfers on the team with both her play and her positive approach!

Bliss Bonner (129, 122) got her first high school tournament rounds under her belt this week. She did not compete last week so this was her maiden voyage. Now that Bliss has two tournament rounds under her, Coach Williams and I look forward to her gaining more confidence in her abilities. She has a great swing and like Adelie she has an even temperament. Moving into the next tournament (one-day event in Lovell) I am excited to see her continue her progression as a high school golfer.

**In order to have a team score in the field of girls, we would need one more score. However, at this time we do not have a third girl ready to compete in a tournament. For now, Adelie and Bliss will be competing only as individuals.
