Broncs Outlast Braves as Cody Improves Win Streak to 22

In what could be called the game of the year, the Cody Broncs would defeat Star Valley 35-25 Friday night to take sole possession of 1st place in the 3A West Conference.
The Broncs have now won 22 straight games, dating back to 2020. This win avenges the only loss this senior class has suffered, which was their last loss in 2020 against the Braves.
The crowd was raucous, the energy was could be felt through the entire town as it was homecoming for the Braves.
The Broncs knew they had to weather the storm and did just that.
Star Valley would strike first, scoring the games first 3 points.
Not even 20 seconds later Cody responded thanks to a Matt Nelson 65 yard touchdown run.
Cody led 7-3 after one quarter of play.
Big plays were a constant theme for the Broncs, Friday night.
After starting the game 0-7 passing Luke Talich would find his rhythm when it mattered most. Talich led the Broncs on a fantastic 2-minute drive to end the half. Talich would complete a 45-yard bomb to Chase Hatch, which set the Broncs up at the Braves 23. Very next play Talich found Remy Broussard down the far side sideline for a touchdown and the Broncs took a 14-3 lead into the half.
The Broncs would pick up right where they left off in the third quarter. On the Broncs very first drive of the half, Talich would provide the fireworks. He took the quarterback keeper up the middle untouched, scoring from 59 yards out to give Cody the 21-3 lead.
After a Star Valley punt and a Broncs turnover on downs, the Braves began to pick up some steam.
Taft McClure led Star Valley down the field and found Luke Linford from 8 yards out to give Star Valley their first touchdown of the game.
At the end of 3 it was Cody 21, Star Valley 10.
Entering the fourth, the Braves had the momentum but Cody would take each blow the Braves gave only to respond every time.
Star Valley would find paydirt early in the fourth on a Tristen Hilton 1 yard TD run. The score was set up by a tipped pass that was take 68 yards to the 1-yard line. Broncs had their lead cut to 3 at that point, 21-18.
Cody would respond with quick strikes and big plays. Talich found Tre Thomasson on a 69 yard TD pass up the middle and not even 45 seconds later had the lead back up to 10.
Star Valley would then mount an 80 second drive finished off by a McClure to Jacob Hodges 10-yard touchdown pass.
Once again, Cody took the gut punch and delivered the final blow. Talich would find Wilkins Radakovich streaking down the middle of the field and delivered a perfect pass from 50 yards out to give Cody back the 10 point lead.
On their final drive of the game, the Braves had the ball at midfield and were called for holding which set up 2 and 24. The Braves would then face a 4th and 17 and the Broncs defense was able to shut them down.
Talich led the way for the Broncs throwing for 3 touchdowns and also ran for one. He accounted for 330 yards of total offense: 250 passing, 80 rushing.
Matt Nelson had 88 rushing yards and the one TD.
Remy Broussard finished with 3 catches for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns. Also had a couple carries for about 27 yards.
Trey Thomasson had the 1 catch for 69 yards and a score.
Wilkins Radakovich had the 1 catch for 50 yards and a score.
Chase Hatch hauled in a 45 yard pass.
Star Valley’s Taft McClure would finish the night attempting 55 passes while completing 38 for 429 yards and 2 TD’s. Yes you read that right, 55 total passes…
With the win Cody is now 6-0 on the season, 3-0 in league play.
